This is a superb set of cookware, and the price beats out other similar sets. Heat conduction is outstanding, and the lining in the skillets has a good finish. The bases are satisfyingly heavy, and each piece has an overall sturdy feel. I cook a lot, but even more so now, as I look forward to getting to this beautiful cookware, some of which I keep on display. My sister had recommended Calphalon to me for getting top-tier at a good value (she's a caterer). My faith in her was rewarded with this purchase.

First I need to advise all that this set was not my first choice. I had my Heart set on a ALLCLAD set that was out of stock. As I had an immediate need for the pots and pans I went with this set. I can't tell you how happy I am. For the cost the quality in my eyes is equal to sets twice what I paid. Cooking is fun again!

"Great set for the price, but not perfect." 2009-02-14
By DJ (California, USA)
I purchased this set almost two years ago. Back then, the price for this set was $150, so I got an even better deal. Prior to that, my only other pans were my lodge cast iron skillets, and some other very poor cheap pans. For the first year, the pans held up tremendously. I cooked 4-5 times a week, and often cooked meals for over 20 people using just these pans. They heated fairly evenly, and produced great results. They made cooking so much more fun as I could make food that was impossible with poorer quality pans. However, as my cooking has developed, and I moved to higher-end pans such as the Calphalon tri-ply, Calphalon-one nonsticks, and my all-clad stainless pieces, I've begun to see a lot more faults with this set. For one, the non-stick coating has begun to peel and flake miserably. The 10" skillet, which I have used probably 5x more than the 8" skillet is now unusable. No, they have never been in a dish washer or abused with metal utensils. I wanted a traditional fry pan, and decided to purchase the calphalon tri-ply 12", and immediately noticed a huge difference. The clad pan heated much more rapidly, and much more evenly. It was just better in every way, and since then, I eventually moved on to purchase a 10 piece all clad stainless steel set, and felt that it was worth every penny. I understand that not everyone can spend $500-$600 dollars on a set of pans, but I would really suggest that you try to save up a little bit longer and go for the calphalon tri-ply or the all-clad if you can. I've since used clad pans just as much if not more than the Simply Calphalon pans, and they still perform as new. The Simply Calphalon pans seem to take longer to heat up now and have developed hot spots. They're still very usable, and I can still make great food with these pans, but I think that saving up for a little bit more for the higher end pans would have saved me money in the long run, and space in my kitchen. But, if $200 is all you have, this is definitely a fantastic set and well worth the money. I would also look at the Kirkland Set, which I bought for my mom and have used extensively. They're very different, as they're hard anodized, solid aluminum pans, and must be treated and approached differently - it just depends on what you're looking for.

"Very nice pots & pans" 2009-01-09

I did a lot of research in my hunt for the best cheaper cookware, and this is what I settled on. I have not been disappointed. They look nice, cook well, etc. My only cons are that they do discolor easily (but hey, this is cookware, not modern art) and items such as rice do burn to the bottom, even if you add oil/butter. Other than that though, I do love these, and I plan on using them for a loooong time to come.

"great cookware---can't recommend highly enough" 2008-07-21
By Nancy Schloot (Milwaukee, WI USA)
I bought the Calphalon simply stainless cookware 12 piece set (not offered any more?) and a couple extra open stock pieces over two years ago. It arrived within days with no shipping charge. This is the greatest cookware set I've ever owned. Sticking food is NOT a problem, and the cookware maintains a lovely appearance with really no special care. All the saucepans are stainless, but the 8- and 10-inch fry pans have a non-stick finish. The glass lids were a requirement, and I wouldn't ever go back to metal lids again. I would recommend this set, this line, to anyone who wants a nice-looking, nice-functioning cookware set that can go into the dishwasher. I would definitely buy this again, but I think this set will work well for years and years.
