 "Outstanding induction ware" 2009-11-10
By C. Kern (West Olive, MI)
I was looking for induction cookware after using calaphlon for many years, and I did not think I would like the stainless as well. Most stainless that I could afford was only magnetic on the bottom of the pan. This cookware is magnetic all over..even the lids. I thought I would have to get the tri-ply pans to get this, so I was pleasantly surprised. The weight was surprising too. I don't think you can get a better set of pans for the price.,

"Good for cooking, takes some effort to clean" 2009-10-13
By Mark Pancake (Medina, OH)
This is a nice cookware set, it heats nicely and looks good. The set is versatile and I have made some great meals with it. The handles stay cool as advertised and the lids fit well. I clean the set with Bar Keepers Friend and a sponge desinged to not scratch the surface, but it can be a bit challengine to clean at times. I think part of this has to do with the finish on cooking surface. I cook with fruit juices and olive oil and it sometimes gets a little too hot, which results in scortching on the cooking surface and on the outside of the pan. There are circles that grow from the center outward, which appear to be a part of the manufacturing process. The thing is, when some food gets cooked on, I have to scrub for a few minutes in order for the surface to be clean, and this is after I have let it soak for a while. I stiil get it clean, but a smoother surface would be nice. For the same price, I would buy these again as a gift.

 "I love it!" 2009-10-06
By Amelia (North Texas)
I just built a house and have a new induction cooktop. Didn't want to spend alot of money for cookware at this time. And the price at Amazon was too good to pass on. I love these pans. After running thru two sets of expensive nonstick pans in the last few years, I am sold on this. With Bar Keeper's Friend as my friend, clean up is a snap. They heat evenly. Only critique is they need to add a 12 inch skillet to set. I bought the 4.75qt sauce pan too and love it. Love my cooktop too!KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless-Steel 4.75 Quart Covered Saute Pan with Helper Handle

"Great starter set for induction cooktop" 2009-09-25
By Benedict J. Jackson (Portland, OR USA)
I found the 10-Inch Nonstick Skillet in this line of cookware after buying a Max Burton 6000 Induction Cooktop. I liked it enough to buy this set. I was not initially thrilled with the look, but it is growing on me.

The triple-layer base is induction capable and all of the pieces of this line have even heat and great heat retention. The smallest saucepan has a 4" base and does not quite satisfy the Burton's "pan present" detection, so I cannot use it on that hob. They do squeal somewhat on an induction burner, but pretty much everything does except solid cast iron.

The glass lids are really fairly pointless because they will fog up long before things really begin to heat up. The handles stay cool except in the event of a boilover, and then the glass lids retain the heat much longer than the thin stainless steel lids I'm used to. The flared tops are nice for pouring, but the metal lip on the lids tends to catch food when used as a makeshift strainer.

The stainless surface cleans up well, but the flared tops, large handles and deep/large-handled lids will hog a lot of dishwasher real estate. The copper edge bands do discolor readily as many have noted -- all you have to do is heat some oil just to the smoking point as if you were going to sear a piece of meat.

You can buy a few other pieces in this line ala carte, including the 10" nonstick skillet (a twin of the stainless one in the set but with the nonstick coating), a 12" nonstick skillet, and a 4.5qt saute pan. Conspicuously absent is a 12" stainless skillet, which I would really like. Target carries a slightly lesser KitchenAid 12" skillet with similar construction but different styling.

"Great product; induction ready; attractive" 2009-08-17
By LadyO (Orlando, FL United States)
We bought this set in Feb 2009, for use on our new induction cooktop. It works well, looks good, and is easy to clean. I do, on occasion, put them in my dishwasher. Thusfar, I have not encountered any discoloration, rusting, or any other negative effects. The only "downside" for this very nice cookware set is that they are rather heavy. While this is not a problem now. I foresee it becoming a problem as I age.... I did not like the idea, at first, that the lids were glass, but I have gotten used to it, and have come to like the idea that I can see my food cooking/water boiling, without lifting the lid every 5 seconds. I also purchased a few filler items, since this set did not have all the pieces I was needing.
