"Coating peeled off into our food" 2009-09-30
By Private User
I bought this item as a cheaper alternative to the non teflon pan, but spend the extra money and buy the GreenPans off HSN from Todd English. I bought this set and one night while cooking rice a roni I noticed that there were all these black pieces in my food. I just thought I burnt it and my family actually ate the rice. Well it happened again and I realized that it was the coating on the pan coming off into my food. I immediately called Amazon but they couldn't do anything because it was past their guarantee. I called Cuisanart and they made me ship the pan back at my expense. That was in February. It is now September and after calling them 3 times I finally got someone to allow me to ship the entire set back (at their expense I insisted ) to get a full refund ( which she said they never, ever do ! ) . She wanted to just credit it me what I paid, but I wanted my money back to get different pans that I trusted. I would not recommend these pans to anyone. My family could've gotten sick or worse from that. Cuisanart kept insisting that they are non toxic and the coating wouldn't hurt us, but how true can that totally be?? I did not feel comfortable from the beginning before purchasing these that there is no maximum temperature noted. I should've stuck to my gut and not ordered them. The GreenPans from HSN go up to 850 degrees and nothing like this has ever happened with my more expensive pans from Todd English. I will write more when I receive my refund and I'll add pictures of the coating in my food.

"BEWARE OF DIFFERENCES BTWN GREENWARE & G.GOURMET!" 2009-08-04
By L. Kenney (Western,MA)
Ugghhh! I bought the green gourmet omelette pan @ BedBath and love, love, loved it! So. . . I decided to go ahead and purchase the whole set ($149 plus 20% off with coupon) I was so excited that I actually opened it in the car before I got home and at first said "Hey, this is a little bit different? A little lighter?" I was still super excited and ready to pass along my old omelette pan since the set came with one as well. Until. . . I did a side by side comparison and then a trusty internet search and realized for the first time that there were actually 2 Cuisinart green lines- Greenware and Green Gourmet! I obsessively tried to decide if I should keep the greenware set I had bought or upgrade to the green gourmet since that was the line my fave omelette pan was from. F I N A L L Y, I decided to "upgrade". I returned the greenware to bedbath and ordered the other set from amazon for $198.00 with free shipping from Amazon Prime. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! The green gourmet, although heavier and a tiny bit smoother, doesn't have the same swanky stainless steel steamer OR see through lids, not even on the dutch oven piece! I was just assuming that of course for the money the green gourmet would have to be better! And since I could just not take the suspense I have already whipped up a huge meal using all of my pieces thus probably making them unreturnable! Now I am just wishing I had plain ole kept the greenware. For the money I could have had the enitre greenware set and the cool, square, green gourmet griddle pan. Plus, one of the perks of the whole line was the eco-safe stainless steel veggie steamer to make my baby her food! I'm just not sure how I feel about using the nonstick one that comes with the gourmet set. Maybe, just maybe, this line will stand up better than the greenware skillet and at least there will be some saving grace?

 "Love it!!!" 2009-08-03

The cookware is great! love the non-stick part!! the outside is getting scratched a bit but no big deal! The pots are heavy and the handles/covers don't get hot at all.. I think the steamer is a waste..

"Great cookware for the money" 2009-07-11
By E. Varick Wettlaufer (MY own private Idaho)
I bought the Cuisinart small frypan at Bed Bath & Beyond the other day to "test" out this new non-stick coating. I wanted something that would not emit toxic fumes but was a good non-stick. I got the pan on special for $19.99- a promotion and saw this set too. BB&B sells this for $249 plus tax plus you have to lug it home (I live in NYC this is an issue). Just as soon as I move I am buying this set and having it shipped (Super Saver) and NO TAX. The small fry pan is great, heats evenly, you need to adjust the flame lover because these are heat efficient and browns really well. I am very impressed and still use the OXO tools for non-stick anyway on them just to keep them nice.

"BEST COOKWARE - AND ECO FRIENDLY ALSO" 2009-06-27
By george&pat (washington state)
Traded in our CIRCULON set after we found out they were coated the the same toxic material(with potential toxic fumes if you accidently overheat) of almost all non-stick cookware. We bought this cookware set with thinking we will have to sacrifice some of the non-stick quality for safety. We're we wrong, they are the best stick free pans we've ever owned and we know we are also helping the environment and the heath of our pets and ourselves. These are a great value at amazons low sale price. Cuisinart GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly Nonstick Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set
